The Science of Dog Grooming
Professional dog grooming has come a long way in the past 30 years!
As the science surrounding pet skin and fur advances, new products and procedures evolve. Dedicated pet professionals strive to stay on top of these advancements to ensure your beloved fur baby is receiving the best care possible.
The groomers at Beloit Based DOWN TOWN HOUND participate regularly in continuing education programs to stay on top of these current trends and ways of thinking in an effort to bring this knowledge to their clients. Owner Michelle Crossley is currently enrolled in a pet aesthetician class, specializing in animal skin and coat. She will offer this knowledge to clients throughout the Stateline area to help them manage their pets difficult skin and fur issues and prevent similar problems from occurring in other pets. While dog groomers are often credited with making dogs look great, they also serve as a valuable resource in the health care of your pet. Crossley asserts that the profession requires us to visually evaluate every pet and offer that information to customers helping create awareness to previously unrecognized health issues.
As 2024 unfolds, DOWN TOWN HOUND, which first opened in 2015, anticipates changes to help customers with the care and maintenance of their pets as well as the overall customer experience. Currently, the lobby is undergoing a renovation to elevate the style with a touch of Beloit history added. Further plans include new pet grooming packages including luxury options, the launch of a website with online scheduling capabilities as well as monthly educational videos on pet care and health maintenance.
As a graduate of Beloit College, connection to the community is important to Crossley and DOWN TOWN HOUND offers customized services like curbside service to help less mobile clients. “I aspire to offer affordable pricing options for every level of care, from basic to luxury options, whether your pet simply needs a therapeutic bath or a thorough pampering” says Crossley.
